Barbecues - good or bad for veggies?
Are barbecues just a minefield for veggies, or can they be as enjoyable for us as they are for those who eat meat? Register your votes here...

For vegetarians I would say they are generally a bit of a nightmare, but it depends on the host. It takes a really understanding host to get it right, a lot of people will provide a veggie option but not understand that it needs to be cooked separately or at least first.
For me, barbecues are a nightmare. The smoke aggravates my asthma and the smell turns my stomach! Our neighbours are constantly barbecuing through the good weather and we have to shut all the windows, the smell is disgusting (dunno what they do, people on other side smells fine!)
Not a fan of them anyway, think food is badly cooked (either over cooked or under cooked) and can be dangerous! I am very concious about making sure that food is cooked through properly. There is also the problem of cold foods being left out in the warm, then put back into fridge with bacteria breeding. Lastly, flies etc!
Other than that I think they are great :P

I love BBQ's! It gives me an opportunity to make lots of lovely salads and side dishes. I also love making gorgeous vegetable kebabs (a bit like the one pictured above!) with peppers and onions with lots of lovely seasonings, and impressing all the meat eaters with how tasty they are. Its a chance to prove to everyone else meat is not the way forward!

Love them!
Mexican bean burgers, veggie skewers, salads, potato wedges, dipping breads and lots of beer - lovely!

Yeah this! I love veggie BBQ's. They're easiest if I host but I don't find attending other people's BBQ's problematic either (just get your grub on the burner ASAP and before the meat stuff)
The best things to do are the simplest IMO, like Field or Portabello Mushrooms, Corn on the Cob and Courgette slices - just drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt.
