I'm a little flexible on cheese, at other people's houses and at some restaurants (usually places where language barriers would make it a problem to explain). Beer and wine I'm also flexible on, although if I can choose, I will - but in pubs I realise that a lot of the staff won't know that wine/beer can be non-veggie.
Very occasionally I will eat a sweet that has gelatine in (which is bad, I know), but my medication also contains gelatine, so I have to consume it anyway (or be ill).
It's not ideal, but 99.9% vegetarian is where my line is drawn. And so many things in modern life conflict with my ideals, I just have to try and balance it out.

Yes sometimes we don't have any choice and end up to eat things we don't like. But Before I go to a place I always do some research where I can eat veggie.

If you're making a stand, make it. If you're just trying to limit your impact on the environment and animals, take it as far you can. If it's for health reasons,

It took me a long time to become a vegetarian. I was overwhelmed and thought "I can't do this, it's a minefield". In the end I decided to do it my way. I gradually cut out meat starting with poultry & pork then moving onto red meat and fish. I try and look for vegetarian products but at the end of the day I wouldn't want to risk alienating my non vegetarian friends by refusing their cheese etc as I would hate to put them off the idea of vegetarianism like I was.
Thanks for starting the discussion its really interesting to hear peoples views.

I just agree with Rhys and Juker also. I really don't want to be a snooty sort of veggie, so when in social situations I'll go the cheese n onion route even if I'm not sure the cheese is vegetarian. Maybe find inspiration in plastova okna for your home design...
