Hospital - being told to pick bits of meat out and then it will be veggie
Countless places I have had to argue over fish not being suitable for vegetarians!

At my friend's wedding the 'vegetarian' option was Salmon.
I have also nearly been caught out by 'vegetarian' leek and potato soup made with chicken stock, the spoon was about 6 inches from my mouth when I caught the reek of it and spotted the suspicious fat globules.

Ugh - that sounds awful. I went to an Italian restaurant in my village some while ago and asked if any of the cheeses were vegetarian. As they couldn't tell me ('it just says cheese on the label' - unbelievable) they said the only 'safe' option was the aglio e olio. Plain pasta with oil and garlic! Actually, it was quite nice, but it wasn't the most inventive dish...

Parents were at a restaurant, checked that the minestrone soup was vegetarian - confirmed it was. Both ordered it and found meat in it - the waiters response was "Oh the chef must have decided to put meat in it today...you could eat around it?"
Needless to say, they walked out of the restaurant

I went snowboarding for a week in Andorra. Even after complaining to the rep, the only thing I could eat at dinner (we'd paid half board) was french fries and green beans. Even an innocent looking bean salad had fish in it.
