    Coriander

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum. I bought a copy of the magazine when I was in the UK recently and really enjoyed it so thought I'd join in.

I have a quesion, I hate the taste and smell of coriander - what can I use instead. I thought parsley but someone said that in fact they're not really interchangeable.

    thanks

Not just me then! I am really not a fan of coriander

Depends on the recipe really (and I dont follow recipes that much!) but maybe just leave it out if there are enough other flavours

I do tend to leave it out or use parsley instead but I'd like to find something that comes closer without that awful smell!

It's pretty hard to substitute coriander due to its Amazing flavour, but depending on the recipe you could try things like basil, mint or parsley

    Hi Jackieb
Welcome to our forum! For a less pungent option, a little ground coriander has a similar character to fresh coriander without that serious hit of flavour. I'd add just a touch at a time, to taste (start with no more than 1/2 tsp for a dish serving two people), then scatter on some flat-leaf parsley for colour and texture. Ground coriander comes from the seeds, and is much milder than the leaf.
